In June 2025, Alaska residents are scheduled to receive a $1,702 stimulus payment, similar to the one they’ve received every year for more than two decades. This benefit combines the annual Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) and a one-time energy assistance payment (the latter being specific to last year).
Many beneficiaries have already received part of this year’ stimulus payment, but others are still waiting, and their joy could arrive in the final days of June. The funds come from profits from the sale of state-owned natural resources. The program represents an effort to share these profits with citizens.
Who qualifies to receive the $1,702 benefit payment?
The state will confirm eligibility before disbursement. Applicants must have met all requirements by March 31, 2025. Applications will not be accepted after that date. Approximately 60,000 people will receive the benefit. The payment is not recurring monthly.
The principal component corresponds to the standard 2025 PFD, set at $1,403.83. This annual dividend is derived from investments in the Permanent Fund. Its calculation depends on accumulated earnings from natural resources. The payment reflects the citizen share of these revenues.
A supplement of $298.17 corresponds to the energy relief payment. This one-time aid responds to the increase in fuel and food prices. It seeks to mitigate the effects of inflation on households. It is not part of the traditional PFD, nor will it be repeated soon.
Easy-to-fulfil basic requirements
Those waiting for the money must meet a handful of basic requirements, starting with residency: they must be legal permanent residents of Alaska, having physically resided in the state for at least 72 hours during the last fiscal year. There are exceptions for taxpayers who were out of state for work or school.
Criminal background checks are also a requirement that affects eligibility. Those with pending major criminal cases are not eligible to receive the $1,702. Those who were incarcerated in the last 12 months will also not receive the payment, as the state verifies legal status before approving benefits.
How will the stimulus checks reach the 600,000 recipients?
The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation oversees funding and payments. Funds will be transferred via direct deposit beginning June 18, 2025 and will continue to the end of the month. This date applies to applications processed late, while with early applications have already received payments.
Those who do not receive their payment by the specified date should contact authorities. Possible causes include eligibility issues or banking errors. The official website pfd.alaska.gov offers verification tools. There is no post-payment claim process.
The full payment will be deposited into bank accounts via direct deposit for those who fulfilled the basic requirements.
