July 2025 Social Security Payment Schedule for the Four Groups of Beneficiaries

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has already completed its June payments, with the final round of benefit distributions deposited into the bank accounts of pension recipients this Wednesday, June 25. With that in mind, let’s begin analyzing the July payments, which begin on the 1st with Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.

SSI beneficiaries receive their payments on the first day of each month. When the first day falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment is advanced. July 2025 begins on a Tuesday, a business day, so the disbursement will occur on that date and will not be delayed as it was, for example, in June: in that case, the first day fell on a Saturday, so the payment was advanced to Friday, May 30.

Who will receive their SSI payments on July 1?

Individuals eligible for SSI must meet specific eligibility criteria established by the SSA. Primary beneficiaries include adults age 65 and older. Can also be allocated to Individuals who are blind or have a disability that prevents substantial gainful activity (SGA).

Children under 18 with a qualifying disability may also be eligible for SSI, under certain conditions. All applicants must demonstrate limited income and resources. Working adults generally cannot exceed a monthly income of $2,019 to maintain eligibility.

Living arrangements and cohabitation have an important impact in the eligibility and amounts. If a beneficiary lives in someone else’s home without covering costs, their payment may be reduced. Family composition, such as living with a spouse or parents, also influences the determination.

Supplemental Security Income amounts: limits per individual or couple

In 2025, the maximum federal SSI benefit amount is $967 per month for an individual. Meanwhile, eligible couples can receive up to $1,450 per month. These amounts represent the federally established ceiling for the program.

Actual payments are often lower than the maximums. Reductions apply based on multiple factors related to the beneficiary’s income. For every $2 of earned income, the SSI payment decreases by approximately $1.

Unearned income also reduces the benefit, about $1 for every $1 received. If the beneficiary lives in someone else’s home and doesn’t pay their fair share of food and shelter, the payment can be reduced by up to $342.33. Some states add supplements, without affecting the federal amount.

Where to call the SSA if your SSI payment doesn’t arrive

If your SSI payment doesn’t appear on the expected date, first of all, don’t panic. You can contact the SSA directly to check the status of your benefit. The main customer service number is 1-800-772-1213 (8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, local time).

For people with hearing impairments, TTY service is available at 1-800-325-0778. You can also visit a local Social Security office for in-person assistance. If the delay persists, the SSA may investigate whether there was a processing error or if any action is required by you as the beneficiary or the bank where you receive your payments.
