New Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program payments have just been confirmed and will arrive as soon as tomorrow. For 2025, the maximum monthly benefit is $4,018, according to official data from the Social Security Administration (SSA).
Like all SSA payments, the SSDI deposits being sent this coming Wednesday reflect a 2.5% increase compared to 2024 (when the maximum was $3,822), adjusted for the Cost of Living Index (COLA).
Who can receive SSDI payments on July 9?
The SSA defines disability as a condition that prevents you from performing “substantially gainful activity (SGA)” for at least one year or until death. In 2025, the income limits for SGA are:
- $1,620 per month for non-blind people.
- $2,720 per month for people with blindness.
Exceeding these amounts invalidates eligibility, even if the medical condition persists, so these maximum thresholds must be strictly adhered to.
In addition, accumulated work credits are required. Generally, five years of contributions are required in the last decade before the disability. For those under 31, the requirements are reduced:
- 18 months if the disability begins between the ages of 21-24.
- 42 months if it starts between 24-31 years old.
SSDI should not be confused with SSI (Supplemental Security Income), which addresses financial needs without requiring a tax history. Another crucial fact: upon reaching full retirement age (which varies depending on the year of birth), SSDI benefits automatically convert to retirement pensions, maintaining the same amount.
SSDI schedule confirmed for July 2025
Having explained all of the above, we now report on the three SSDI payments confirmed for July 2025:
- Wednesday, July 9: Beneficiaries born from the 1st to the 10th of the month.
- Wednesday, July 16: Those whose birthdays are between the 11th and the 20th.
- Wednesday, July 23: People whose birthdays were between the 21st and the 31st.
However, those beneficiaries who receive SSDI along with SSI payments have a different fixed date. Their payments are sent on the third day of each month, almost always without change, except when that day falls on a holiday or weekend. In such cases, the deposit is made on the previous business day.
The maximum amount for an individual receiving SSI is $967 per month, while for a couple living together and applying jointly, the maximum possible payment is $1,450. Receiving SSDI can reduce the amount of SSI you can receive, and conversely, SSI can also reduce the amount of SSDI.
