Your Social Security Access Might Be Blocked — Here’s Why

Hundreds of thousands of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients in Colorado could receive an extra bonus in the coming weeks, provided they use their food stamp funds wisely to put healthy food on their tables.

The SNAP Produce Bonus program in Colorado provides an additional benefit to SNAP participants. This bonus is activated by purchasing specific agricultural products at authorized establishments. The refund is automatically loaded onto the recipient’s EBT card. No separate registration is required to access this incentive.

What you should know about the extra SNAP benefits

The maximum monthly voucher value is $60. This amount resets on the first day of each calendar month. The voucher funds can be used to purchase any item eligible under federal SNAP guidelines. The initiative seeks to promote healthy food consumption among the beneficiary population.

Foods that trigger the rebate include fresh fruits and vegetables. Frozen varieties without additives such as salt, sugar, or fat are also eligible. Dried beans fall into the category of products that generate the rebate. At participating farmers markets, dried fruits and vegetables without additives are also included.

If you notice the pattern, the incentive is to buy only healthy foods that don’t contain excess calories, saturated fat, sodium, and other ingredients that are potentially dangerous to your health in the short or long term.

Americans eligible for this SNAP benefits additional bonus

All individuals receiving SNAP benefits in Colorado are automatically enrolled in the program. Eligibility requires no additional action on the part of the recipient. The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) administers the initiative at the state level. Official information is posted on the CDHS website.

Recipients can check their voucher balance in several ways. The online EBT cardholder portal displays the available balance. The ebtEDGE mobile app also provides this information. Alternatively, you can call the EBT card customer service number. Some retail locations display the balance upon completion of a transaction.

Participating establishments are identified on an interactive CDHS map. This map color-coded locations by type. Licensed retailers, farmers markets, and concession stands may be included. For example, the Boulder County Farmers Market operates on Wednesday afternoons from May to October. The Durango Farmers Market is open on Saturday mornings during the same period.

How many Coloradans will receive their extra SNAP benefits?

Approximately 580,000 people in Colorado receive SNAP benefits. This figure represents about 9.9% of the total state population. Colorado’s population was estimated at 5,877,610 in 2023. Calculating 9.9% on this basis results in approximately 581,884 recipients.

In 2024, the approximate number of beneficiaries who received their bonuses was about 584,500, quite similar to the amount they will receive this bonus in 2025.
