The CalFresh program in California (the local name for SNAP Benefits) will distribute allocations for March 2025 between the 1st and 10th of that month. Allocation depends on the last digit of each beneficiary’s case number. The maximum amounts include increases due to cost of living adjustment (COLA), effective from October 2024 to September 2025.

According to the official schedule, funds will be loaded onto EBT cards on specific dates. Cases ending in 1 will receive payment on March 1, while those ending in 0 will receive payment on March 10. Although March 1 and 2 are weekends, deposits will be made without delays.

SNAP/CalFresh payments in California continue as normal

The CalFresh payment distribution table, as we mentioned before, goes from the 1st to the 10th of each month as follows:

  • Digit 1: March 1
  • Digit 2: March 2
  • Digit 3: March 3
  • Digit 4: March 4
  • Digit 5: March 5
  • Digit 6: March 6
  • Digit 7: March 7
  • Digit 8: March 8
  • Digit 9: March 9
  • Digit 0: March 10

Maximum SNAP benefit amounts in California: up to $1,756 could be approved

Payments vary depending on income and household size. The monthly limits for March 2025 are:

  • 1 person: $292
  • 2 people: $536
  • 3 people: $768
  • 4 people: $975
  • 5 people: $1,158
  • 6 people: $1,390
  • 7 people: $1,536
  • 8 people: $1,756
  • Each additional member: extra $220 per person

How to find out where my SNAP benefits money is

Recipients can check balances on their EBT cards after the assigned date. “For inquiries, the telephone line 1-877-847-3663 is available,” said a spokesperson whom we consulted. The funds only cover food; Its use on non-edible items or cash withdrawals is prohibited.

An official explained: “The system allows uploads on weekends if the date falls on a Saturday or Sunday.” This applies to payments on March 1 and 2, facilitating early access to those who receive benefits on those days.

Remember that CalFresh benefits can only be used to purchase food, excluding non-edible items such as soap, toilet paper, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, vitamins, medications and pet food. However, it is allowed to purchase seeds and plants for home gardens to produce food.

A detail that is also worth noting is that, although specific changes for March 2025 were not mentioned in the sources consulted, there are waivers related to disasters, such as automatic benefit replacements due to wildfires in certain areas, with loss reports accepted until March 6, 2025 in counties such as Los Angeles and Ventura. This does not affect the overall schedule, but could be relevant for affected beneficiaries.
