The Social Security Administration (SSA) sends Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments to millions of beneficiaries every month, and sometimes modifies payment dates if the 1st falls on a weekend or federal holiday, moving them to the last previous business day. For example, January 1, 2025 was a Wednesday and a holiday (New Year’s), so the payment was brought forward to the previous December 31.

In June, the 1st is a Sunday, so the deposit is made on May 30th. This policy seeks to ensure that beneficiaries receive funds without delays due to bank closures. Official sources confirm that there are no double SSI payments in months like October or December, although some reports mistakenly mentioned them.

SSI payments for the rest of 2025

The SSA states that payments are adjusted only if the 1st of the month is a non-business day, with no additional exceptions. This includes days like September 1 (Labor Day), which falls on a Monday and requires the advance to August 29.

Some months show double payments, and other months have no SSI payments at all, so it can be confusing: however, it’s worth clarifying that the agency sends a total of 12 annual payments, one for each month. Not one more, not one less:

  • January: Payment on December 31, 2024 – overdue
Reason: January 1 is a holiday (New Year’s Day, Wednesday).
  • February: Payment on January 31, 2025 – overdue
Reason: February 1st falls on a Saturday.
  • March: Payment on February 28, 2025 – overdue
Reason: March 1st falls on a Saturday.
  • April: Payment on April 1, 2025 – On time
April 1 is a Tuesday, it is not a holiday.
  • Mayo: Payment on May 1, 2025 – On time
May 1 is Thursday, it is not a holiday.
  • June: Payment on May 30, 2025 – overdue
Reason: June 1st falls on a Sunday.
  • July: Payment on July 1, 2025 – On time
July 1 is a Tuesday, it is not a holiday.
  • August: Payment on August 1, 2025 – On time
August 1st is a Friday, it is not a holiday.
  • September: Payment on August 29, 2025 – overdue
Reason: September 1 is Labor Day (Monday holiday).
  • October: Payment on October 1, 2025 – On time
October 1st is Wednesday, it is not a holiday.
  • November: Payment on October 31, 2025 – overdue
Reason: November 1st falls on a Saturday.
  • December: Payment on November 28, 2025 – overdue
Reason: December 1st falls on a Sunday

Now, let’s talk about the amounts: the maximum possible for an SSI beneficiary, during the year 2025 (December inclusive) is $967, while for a couple who live together and apply for benefits together, the maximum possible is $1,450.

There is an item that is almost out of use, which is “essential person.” This is an extra payment of $484 for those people who receive help from someone who assists them in their simplest daily activities.
