Social Security benefits from $2,831 to $5,108 to be sent next week

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has been announcing for weeks that the mandatory change of the My Social Security account, which will formally cease to exist, must be made to the new federal Login.gov platform.

In fact, thousands of beneficiaries can no longer access their My Social Security account, as of September 1, 2024, and it is precisely because of this mandatory change: this especially affects those who had to make the transition before August 31, sd per SSA ordinance.

Closing of My Social Security Accounts — Beneficiaries Forced to Change

The blocking of accounts was ordered especially for beneficiaries who created their My Social Security accounts before September 18, 2021 and did not update their credentials to align them with the new requirements of the Login.gov platform.

This could result in the temporary suspension of key benefits such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). The Social Security Administration (SSA) has noted that, although there is a process to regain access to accounts, it can be slow and cause significant delays in the delivery of benefits.

SSA recommends that beneficiaries take the following steps as soon as possible to regain access to all benefit information:

  1. Access Login.gov: If you don’t have an account yet, you’ll need to create a new one, or simply log in if you’ve already made the transition.
  2. Identity verification: You will need to provide the personal information required to verify your identity, an essential step to reactivate your account.
  3. Contact the SSA: If you encounter difficulties during the process, it is best to contact the SSA directly for personalized assistance.
  4. Review your account status: Once access is restored, it is essential that you monitor the status of your benefits and account settings to avoid future problems.

Social Security payments pending in September

According to the official SSA schedule of 2024 payments, there are three payments that will be made in the next three weeks. It is for retirement and disability (SSDI) beneficiaries:

  • Wednesday, September 11: If your date of birth is between 1 and 10.
  • Wednesday, September 18: If your date of birth is between the 11th and the 20th.
  • Wednesday, September 25: If your date of birth is between the 21st and the 31st.

Remember that Social Security benefits are designed for retirees, people with permanent or temporary disabilities who qualify under certain requirements, but they are also distributed among surviving relatives of beneficiaries. Payments are made once a month by two ways: by bank deposit or by paper check.
