However, in 2024 a new version of this design appears in IKEA stores (first seen in 2022) to adapt to new trends and the requirements of new spaces that are much more minimalist and pragmatic than before.
The POÄNG Low-back chair arises from that premise of revisiting the classic design, with a shorter back than its most classic version and three color combinations. For the first time, the wood appears painted in a dark brown color, and in an intense red that is combined with three colors of cushions available in beige, red, and black.

The Low-back remains faithful to the combination of Scandinavian design and Japanese minimalism, but its lower silhouette makes it ideal for smaller spaces or for those who want a less bulky design. Now, the new POÄNG Low-Back version, in its three color combinations, is much more affordable: in IKEA stores throughout the US, as well as on its website, it is priced at just $99, which suits everything type of budgets.
