The Social Security Administration (SSA) has not issued alerts about interruptions in SSDI (disability insurance) payments for the week of May 5-11, 2025, but has tried to quickly come out to clarify something. Messages circulate indicating the absence of deposits in this period. The explanation lies in the regular disbursement schedule.

According to official documents to which we turned to speak the truth, SSDI beneficiaries receive their payments on variable dates depending on their date of birth. For May 2025, transfers are scheduled for the 14th, 21st and 28th. “The schedule is published in advance and does not include payments in the first week of May,” an SSA spokesperson explained.

When are the next SSDI Disability payments?

A few days ago, on May 2, 2025, exceptional deposits were made for specific groups, such as those who received benefits before 1997. This disbursement corresponded to the previous week, from April 28 to May 4. Usually, these beneficiaries receive their money on the 3rd of each month, but since May 3rd fell on a Saturday, it was brought forward (as usual) to the nearest business day.

The SSA system allocates SSDI payments using these criteria:

  • Born between days 1 and 10 receive funds on the second Wednesday: May 14
  • born between the 11th and the 20th, the third Wednesday: May 21
  • And born between the 21st and 31st, the fourth Wednesday: May 28

Those who receive SSI and SSDI simultaneously, or reside outside the US, also receive their payments on the third business day of each month, but as we mentioned before, this payment was brought forward to the 2nd.

Until May 8, 2025, no technical delays or failures in the payment system are reported. The absence of deposits this week coincides with the established scheme. Users on social networks expressed concern, but authorities attribute this to ignorance of the official calendar.

How much to expect in SSDI allotments?

The maximum monthly Social Security Disability (SSDI) benefits in 2025 is $4,018 per month for an individual, according to the Social Security Administration (SSA). This amount applies to beneficiaries with high historical incomes, since the SSDI calculation is based on average earnings history during the 35 years of highest income. However, most beneficiaries receive less, averaging $1,580 a month in 2025.

The SSA encourages users to create an account at ssa.gov/myaccount to verify exact payment dates. Changes due to bank information updates or legal adjustments are also notified there. “Self-management avoids misunderstandings,” says a banner on the official site.
