In May, beneficiaries of a particular Social Security program will receive two payments for adjustments to the Social Security Administration (SSA) schedule. Know the key dates and how they affect your budget.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive two payments in May due to adjustments to the SSA official schedule. The first corresponds to May and will be distributed on May 1, while the second, corresponding to June, will be issued on May 30.
7.4 million Americans, including people with disabilities or limited resources, depend on these funds. Those who also receive traditional Social Security benefits will get three deposits in May: two from SSI and one from the regular program. This situation occurs when payment dates coincide with weekends.
The difference between the SSI program and other Social Security programs
The SSI calendar provides for two payments in May, June, August and October in 2025. For example, in June, the deposit for that month will be brought forward to May 30, since June 1 is a Sunday. This means that there will be no SSI payments in June, according to SSA rules.
Similar situations will occur in August and September: September payment will be issued on August 29. In October, the November benefit will be delivered on October 31, and in December, the January 2026 payment will arrive on December 31, 2025.
In short, these are the next SSI payment dates for the remainder of 2025
According to the SSA calendar, these are the SSI payment dates for 2025:
- Thursday, May 1, 2025 (May payment).
- Friday, May 30, 2025 (June payment).
- Tuesday, July 1, 2025 (July payment).
- Friday, August 1, 2025 (August payment).
- Friday, August 29, 2025 (September payment).
- Wednesday, October 1, 2025 (October payment).
- Friday, October 31, 2025 (November payment).
- Monday, December 1, 2025 (December payment).
- Wednesday, December 31, 2025 (January 2026 payment).
The difference between SSI and other programs
Social Security benefits for retirees or seniors follow a calendar based on dates of birth. Those born between the 1st and the 10th will receive their payment on May 14. Those born between the 11th and 20th will get it on May 21, and those who have birthdays after the 20th will see it reflected on May 28.
Beneficiaries who began receiving payments before May 1997 will receive their allocation on May 2, advanced to May 2 . If they also receive SSI, the latter will be paid on May 1, according to the scheme established by the SSA.
The SSI is also different from the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), a program designed for those disabled workers with work history and complete Social Security taxes. It could also be combined with SSI if the applicant complies with both programs and their compatibility.
