In the upcoming month of February 2025, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will implement adjustments to the payment schedule for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries. In a normal month, these payments are issued on the first day of each month, but because February 1, 2025 will be a Saturday, the SSA will advance the disbursement to January 31, 2025, because the agency does not send payments

On the other hand, those who receive SSI along with Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or retirement benefits will have their first February payment on February 3, 2025. This date applies to people who began receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997 and that meet the requirements established by the SSA.

More dates confirmed by the Social Security Administration

For those who began receiving benefits after April 30, 1997, the SSA has established a staggered payment schedule based on Wednesdays of the month. Payments will be distributed on February 12, 19 and 26, 2025, depending on the beneficiary’s date of birth.

People born between the 1st and 10th of any month will receive their payment on February 12; those born between the 11th and the 20th will receive it on February 19, and those born after the 20th will receive their funds on February 26.

Finally, the SSA has indicated that maximum Social Security payments can reach $5,108 for people who have worked in SSA-covered jobs for 35 years and who applied for benefits at age 70. The average monthly payments are $1,976, which provides a baseline for beneficiaries to plan their expenses and financial obligations appropriately.

What to do if my Social Security payment is late?

If your Social Security cash, deposit, or paper check (whatever benefit you are entitled to) is delayed, don’t panic because there are actions you can take to find where your money is. If you have already confirmed that the date is correct, you have already waited at least three business days after it, and that everything is ok in your bank account, you can call the SSA.

The beneficiary help line is 1-800-772-1213 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time). If you have hearing problems, you can use the Teletypewriter (TTY) line by calling 1-800-325-0778. If you prefer, you can also visit your nearest Social Security office for personalized assistance.
