The Social Security Administration (SSA) has already launched its June benefit payment schedule, which began with a change—unexpected by some—in the payment date for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program deposits.
This month, retirement benefits will be distributed to more than 70 million recipients, as well as to disabled workers, who share the same distribution date as retirees. We emphasize that SSI payments will not be sent during the month of June due to a change in the SSA’s distribution schedule.
Social Security Calendar: Complete dates for June 2025
The calendar establishes different dates depending on the beneficiary’s situation or date of birth. Payments will be made on specific business days throughout June.
The sequence begins on Tuesday, June 3. Beneficiaries who began receiving benefits before May 1997 will receive their payment on that day. Their allocation is processed separately from the bulk of current recipients, who are those who began receiving benefits after May 1997.
Wednesday, June 11, is reserved for beneficiaries with birthdates between the 1st and 10th of any month, and the next date is Wednesday, June 18, for retirees with birthdates between the 11th and 20th of any month.
The cycle concludes on Wednesday, June 25, with payments to beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of the month. All of these dates apply to retirees, surviving family members of retirees, and workers claiming SSDI.
There will be no SSI payment in June
The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program operates under a different set of rules than other benefits. Generally, SSI funds are disbursed on the first day of each calendar month. However, there are clearly defined exceptions in the protocol. When the first day falls on a weekend or holiday, an adjustment is applied.
In June 2025, the first day is a Sunday, a non-business day for the SSA. Therefore, the June payment was moved up to Friday, May 30. “The June SSI payment was issued on Friday, May 30,” the agency clarifies through a spokesperson.
Similar situations are expected for other months within the same year. In August 2025, SSI beneficiaries will receive two payments: on August 1st and 29. Payments will be made on August 1 and 29 (the latter corresponding to September). The second payment in August replaces the usual initial September payment. December will replicate this pattern.
In December, payments will occur on Monday, December 1st, and Wednesday, December 31 (the latter corresponding to January 2026). In neither case is this an extra amount or a “bonus”: each beneficiary will receive no more than 12 payments per year in total.
Maximum retirement and SSI payments in 2025
Regarding Social Security Retirement, the maximum amounts depend on the age at which the application is made:
- At age 62: $2,831 per month.
- At full retirement age: $4,018 per month.
- At age 70: $5,108 per month.
For the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, the limits are:
- Individuals: $967 per month.
- Couples: $1,450 monthly.
- Essential personnel: $484 per month.
These amounts are the maximum possible and do not reflect the average benefit. The actual amount received by each beneficiary varies depending on their earnings history (in the case of retirement) and financial need in the case of SSI.
