By 2025, more than 3.6 million Texas families will rely on the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, known as SNAP benefits, or food stamps by their former name. These are monthly payments for low-income families and individuals who need a little boost to put nutritious food on their tables every month.
In Texas, SNAP benefits are distributed every month between the 1st and the 28th, with two groups of beneficiaries based on the date they were approved by the program to receive payments. For households certified before June 1, 2020, benefits are sent between the 1st and 15th of each month. For households certified after June 1, 2020, the dates range from the 16th to the 28th of each month.
How to find out your SNAP payment date in Texas
Households certified before June 1, 2020, are assigned a payment date based on the last digit of their Eligibility Determination Group (EDG). If you’re unsure of your payment date, there are several ways to confirm it:
- Review your notification letter: When you were approved for SNAP benefits, you received a notification letter that included your EDG number and payment date.
- Log in to YourTexasBenefits.com: You can log in to your account at YourTexasBenefits.com to view your benefit information, including your payment schedule.
- Contact the HHSC: If you have questions or need assistance, you can call the Texas Health and Human Services Commission at 2-1-1 or 1-877-541-7905.
These are the upcoming dates for certificates issued before June 1, 2020:
- If your EDG # ends in0, you will receive your benefits on June 1, 2025.
- If it ends in1, the benefits will be available on June 3, 2025.
- If it ends in2, you will be able to access your benefits on June 5, 2025.
- If it ends in3, the payment will be the June 6, 2025.
- If it ends in4, you will receive the funds on June 7, 2025.
- If it ends in5, the benefits will be available on June 9, 2025.

- If it ends in8, will be available on June 13, 2025.

Households certified after June 1, 2020, have another way to determine their payment due date. Their payment date is assigned using the last two digits of their Eligibility Determination Group (EDG).
If your EDG digits are between 00 and 03, for example, your payment date is June 16, and if your numbers are between 04 and 06, your payment date is June 17.
