Born on September 23, 1949, in Long Branch, New Jersey, Bruce Springsteen is one of the most internationally successful American singers. Since he began his musical career in the late 1960s, he has always enjoyed the unconditional support of his fans.
It could be said that Springsteen has been one of the important figures that has marked a before and after in the world of music. In addition to this, his personal and love life has nothing to envy to his professional life and, therefore, from The Look we want to give you all the information you need to know about his family environment and the success of some of them.
Patti Scialfa is the love of his life
Bruce met his first wife, Julianne Philips, during the tour promoting 'Born in the U.S.A.'. The two married in Lake Oswego, Oregon, in 1985, but their love would not last long, as they divorced just three years later, in 1988.
As everything in life happens for a reason, a female voice joined the group. This was Patti Scialfa, who had been a waitress while waiting for the opportunity to become a singer. It didn't take long for Bruce to fall in love with her, of whom he said he saw "something different, something he hadn't experienced before with any woman".
Three decades of marriage
This love turned into marriage in 1991. They were both from New Jersey, but Patti was three years his junior. Although many believe that work and love should not mix, the reality is that the two have always remained part of the same group.
The more than thirty years of marriage have given the couple the most important thing in their lives. Their love has created a happy family that has shown the world that success is implicit in their genes.
Bruce and Patti's family
To this day, Bruce and Patti are still together and have had three children together. Evan James, born in 1990; Jessica Rae, in 1991; and the youngest of the family, Sam Ryan, born in 1994.
Jessica has been the most successful in her professional life. She is an expert horsewoman, chosen for the U.S. equestrian team for the Tokyo Olympics.
However, another of her children is a firefighter, something that, at times, has clashed with her father's fortune.
Bruce has overcome depression
Despite how idyllic his life seems, the truth is that Bruce has had to face some experiences that, for sure, he would prefer not to have had to live. He has been forced to overcome several depressive episodes throughout his life and that have influenced him when writing his songs.
But this is not the only difficulty that has stood in the way of his musical career. As a consequence of his profession, Bruce has regularly suffered from painful tendonitis caused by the strain of plucking his guitar. In addition to this, he has had to undergo surgery for a herniated disc and has had some throat problems.
History and the passing of the years have shown us that when you are passionate about what you do, nothing can get in the way. Bruce Springsteen is a great example of this.
