As we all know, music is a friend in which we find comfort when we need it most, joy in sad moments and a moment of disconnection and relaxation after having gone through a hard day. For this reason, the professionals who dedicate themselves to it get, over time, a great admiration from their followers around the world. One of the most relevant groups of the last years is Korn, from Bakersfield, California, formed in 1993 and characterized by its nu-metal style music.
Over the years since the band began to conquer the world with their music, a lot of information has reached us about their work and new releases. On the contrary, we don't know so much about the more personal aspects of their members' lives. For this reason, from The Look we have prepared this article for you to know in depth who are the five members of this popular American group.
Korn, the pioneer band of the nu-metal genre
As we have already mentioned, this band was born in Bakersfield, a city that is linked, in the collective musical memory, to the country style of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. Its five members decided to unite and create the group that was to be considered as the pioneer of the new nu-metal.
Its birth came about as the fusion of two local groups, LAPD and Sexart, and its music has an explosive, fun and overwhelming style, the result of the mixture of heavy metal, rap and punk. Perhaps this is the reason why they have managed to conquer a long list of followers.
The first of its members is Jonathan Davis. He is the singer of the band and was born in 1971 and has been considered one of the 20 best metal vocalists of all time. Before joining Korn, his first steps in the music world were with 'Sexart'.
Brian Welch and James 'Munky' Shaffer
Brian Welch and James 'Munky' Shaffer are the guitarists of the group. The first of them was born in 1970 in Torrance, California, and, before founding Korn, he belonged to 'Ragytime' and, later, to 'LAPD'. Here he coincided with Shaffer, born in 1970 in Rosedale, this being his first professional experience as a guitarist.
Another of the musicians who have shaped Korn's band is David Silveria. In his case, he is the drummer, was born in 1972 in San Leandro and was also part of 'LAPD'. However, his time in the nu-metal band would end in 2006, when he decided to step away from his stool to, according to some rumors, start his career as a model. Currently, who occupies his position is Ray Luzier.
Finally, Reginald Arvizu, better known as Fieldy, is in charge of playing bass in Korn's songs. He was born in 1969, being the oldest of them all, and before founding the band, as happened with his bandmates Welch and Shaffer, and his former partner Silveria, he was also one of the members of 'LAPD'.
It is clear that the music and lyrics of this pioneer nu-metal band have managed to conquer a large part of the public worldwide. Given this, we can allow ourselves to think that they still have many years of life left to make their followers enjoy.
